How is the traffic from San Diego to Los Angeles during the weekend?

I know that when my husband goes to meetings from La Jolla to Los Angeles it takes him about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to get to Los Angeles (in the carpool lane) during the weekdays - but how bad is traffic during the weekend?

    I got to tell you that in my experience over the last twenty eight years of living in San Diego and traveling north on various days at various times, the answer to your question is unknown and unknowable.

    It is so dependent on random events…such as road construction, immigration check points, accidents, major public events, weather etc, that there is no precise answer.

    Depending on where in LA you want to go…LA is BIG!!…I would allow at least four hours just to be safe.

    But you might hit it just right and cruise along at 70 mph all the way, also.

    Sorry. Anybody who tries to give you an actual time is just blowing smoke.

    I’d say about a good 4 1/2 hours next week might be crazy though Memorial day weekend
