Where is the best place in Los Angeles for private fishing?

I am looking for some great fishing in Los Angeles. I am either looking for quality pier fishing or a private boat rental (not too expensive). I do not want to go on a public boat charter again, so any suggestions are appreciated.

    SEARCH FOR BOAT RENTALS,, SOME MARINA’S WILL HAVE SKIFFS YOU CAN RENT FOR THE DAY, REDONDO AND NEWPORT HAVE PLACES,,
    FOR FRESH WATER..
    IRVINE LAKE HAS BOAT RENTALS AS WELL AS SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES
