Is Los Angeles and the West Hollywood area an unsafe place to live?

I’m just turning 18 and my boyfriend is 19. We’ve started to look at rentals and job opportunities out there in Los Angeles and we’re wondering how unsafe that area is to live in. We’ve found places right in our price range, but I’m just worried how dangerous it is.

    Los Angeles is HUGE. There are different areas in Los Angeles, one of which is West Hollywood. West Hollywood in general is pretty nice. It is known as a *** community and there are a lot of *** bars and events in the area. It is clean and the apartments tend to be rather expensive. West Hollywood is a good location to live, as you can get to several freeways quickly in case your jobs aren’t in the immediate area. There are lots of restaurants in the area and it’s not far from the beach. I would definitely consider living in WeHo if I ever moved back to California. I have been there several times for parties and events with friends and I liked it a lot.

    Where did you hear it’s dangerous living here?
    perish the thought. If it were dangerous, why does everyone want to live here?
