I’m going to Los Angeles in Late July for a weekend but wanted to know what is the best place to find a good deal on a full package (air, hotel, and car). Thanks in advance for your help!

I looked at all the usual stuff on the web to find a good deal from Dallas to NYC in July, and then decided to check with a travel agent, and I got a much better package than offered by Travelocity or Expedia. The travel agent gets paid by the airline, hotel, car rental — there is no charge to you. Try it and have a nice vacation.

On the opposite side of the coin, I went to a travel agent, and got really tired of her trying to “upsell” me something that was outside my budget. They aren’t really motivated to sell you the cheapest airfare, hotel, or rental, because they get paid a percentage of your package price. So a bigger package means more money for them.
I’ve had good luck at Tripadvisor.com, since it will check out all the other travel sites for the best price. They don’t sell any travel at all, and post reviews.

Kearney hit it out of the park (oh how I **** cliches) but If you’re a member of AAA they can usually provide you with decent packages that won’t make you sell your first born.
If you are, remember to get the free maps.

Expedia, Travelocity, Hotwire are actually better at those packages of air, hotel and car than a lot of other places…If you just need one thing then poke around…Some sites have cheap airfares at bad times, like 7:00 in the morning or 11:00 at night…
Yeh even the Beverly Hilton has a discount for AAA…so if you travel a lot that would be a good thing to join…
