Is Los Angeles downtown a good area to move in?

Hi, I’m planning to move to Los Angeles and I am a singer so I was thinking about moving downtown in one of those big buildings near the skyscrapers. I’ve been hearing a lot about downtown not being safe but I don’t know if it is true. I want to be in the action but also safe.I think I prefer downtown to Santa Monica.I am confused… Which area is best for me to live in as a singer living alone?

Sure California that is where everything happens. You have the earthquakes, landslides, fires, riots and no telling what all.

OMG….Be careful. LA is a rough place unless you have lots of money and you can move into a nice area. I was born in LA and moved away years ago and am so glad I did. A lot of gangs and crime there. I am sorry that I don’t know any good places anymore because I haven’t been there in years. The whole place depresses me. It looks like fun on TV and in the movies but they don’t show the filth and crime. If money is not a problem then you should be o.k. (Rent there is very expensive) Like I said….be careful. I wish you well. =)

i was born there if you are white then yea u probably wont be as warmly welcomed as if u wer black or mexican…im mexican nd i wasnt that bad but then i would see how bad the whites were treated…

Downtown has some nice new condos being built but are very expensive and the surrounding area isn’t to great. If I were you, I would give Santa Monica a shot. Apartment rent is probably the same (due to rent control) and Santa Monica is close to the beach and much safer and cleaner.
